Michen Dewey

Michen Dewey is a multimedia professional with a background in news design, journalism and photography. She is a graduate from Loyola University Chicago, where she majored in multimedia journalism and photography, and was the managing editor of the school newspaper, The Phoenix.

As a current News Team Leader at Lee Enterprises Design Center, she has first-hand knowledge of what it takes to get multiple publications successfully out the door each day. This experience is paired with leadership, teamwork and optimal communication skills. During her years at the design center, and while pursuing her education, she learned to use multiple software programs that are a necessity to everyday lives as designers. Using these tools allows her to create clean, innovative design for large audiences.

While the high-intensity world of news in her journalism program sharpened her mind, her photography program taught her color theory and the elements of art. This combination allowed her passion for news design to come to fruition. She uses these tools every day at the design center when dealing with everything from national and hyper-local breaking news to compelling feature packages. As a team leader, she encourages her team to utilize best design practices while allowing the creativity of her team to truly blossom.
